John Deere 4440

The John Deere 4440 was one of John Deere’s most popular tractors in the late 70’s and early 80’s. It’s production run lasted from 1978 to 1982. It was powered by a turbocharged, 6 cylinder, 7.6 litre, diesel engine pumping out just over 130 hp.

The JD 4440 weighed in at 11,780 lbs (or 5,343 kg for those of you in Europe) coming off the production line. However this could increase up to 15,775 lbs ( or 7,155 kg) once it is fully operational and ballast is added. It has a reasonalby wide wheelbase of 106.7 inches (or 271 cm) and a length of 158.5 inches (or 402 cm).

The John Deere 4440 can take a number of attachments, including a John Deere 148 front end loader or a John Deere 158 front end loader.

Many people found the JD 4440 fantastic as it came with a very good cab, making working in the winter or any bad weather much more tolerable than other tractors built previously.
