John Deere 2720

The John Deere 2720 compact utility tractor is bigger and more powerful than either of it’s little brothers, the John Deere 2320 or the John Deere 2520 tractors. The JD 2720 is truly a superstar as it can just perform so many different jobs around your garden and property. Obviously there is a multitude of mower decks that can be mid mounted on it. These include the 54 inch, 60 inch, 62 inch and 72 inch mowers as well as a number of other rear mounted mower decks. Don’t forget that you can also use this machine in the winter by attaching a number of snow removal devices to it. These start with a John Deere 47″ Snow Blower, but you can also attach a John Deere 59″ Snow Blower as well as a John Deere 54 Inch Front Blade or a John Deere 54″ Snowblower to it.

There are also a large range of seeding attachments, loaders, backhoes, rakes, blades aerators and rotary brooms that can be attached to the John Deere 2720 to enhance it’s usability. The engine powering the JD 2720 is a 31.4 hp Yanmar 3TNV88 diesel. This three cylinder engine has natural aspiration and a displacement of 1.642 liters. The liquid cooling system that prevents the engine from overheating has a coolant capacity to hold up to 3.8 liters of coolant.

Once the engine is started with the 12 volt battery providing 500 cold cranking amps, it’s then recharged using a 40 amp alternator. All the rear mounted attachments are usually connect to the category 1, three point hitch. This hitch has a maximum lifting capacity of 650 kg (1433 lbs). The roll bar (ROPS) is foldable to make storing the John Deere 2720 easier.  The total weight of the machine comes to 895 kg (1973 lbs) when it’s being shipped. If you own a JD 2720, then please leave a review of it below to let others know more about it. Please try and include as much detail about it as possible.

Love the tractor!!! Has been a real asset to helping me to maintain our 5 acres grounds. The wood chipper takes 4” logs and the tractor powers through it without any problems.

    Year of Manufacture: 2012
Pros: Excellent hp to weight ratio
I run a Wallenstein BX 42 wood chipper (excellent)
Front end loader (a little extra lifting capacity would be nice)
54 inch front mount snow blower. (Excellent)
Rear ballast box (a must) with FEL.
Cons: Minor shimming required on fuel tank to provide proper clearance for hood to properly close without hitting fuel cap. Minor issue that I easily resolved.
The floor/foot rests could have been built a bit heavier.
