Kubota L3400

The Kubota L3400 compact utility tractor had a production run of 4 full years from 2004 until 2008. During this time, this machine was fitted with a 3 cylinder, diesel engine that has natural aspiration. This engine has a displacement of 1.6 liters and is liquid cooled. The tractor comes fitted with a 12 volt battery to start it. The engine is sitting in a choice of 2 different chassis. The first is a 4×2 2WD chassis, the other, better choice is a 4×4 MFWD 4WD chassis. The speed of this compact utility tractor is controlled via either a hydrostatic transmission the gives the vehicle infinite gears going forward and in reverse over 3 ranges (low, medium, high) or a constant mesh transmission. The constant mesh transmission gives the tractor 8 gears when traveling forward and 4 when it’s reversing.

The Kubota L3400 enjoys power steering and it uses a wet disk braking system to slow down. The total capacity of the fuel tank comes to 34.1 liters (9 US gallons) of diesel. The maximum rear lifting capacity of the category 1, 3 point hitch is 906 kg (1998 lbs).

The Kubota L3400 also enjoys a range of safety features that truly enhance it. It comes with parking brakes, power take off (PTO) shield and a seat belt attached to the ROPS (roll bar). The weight of the L3400 varies, depending on whether you are talking about the 2WD version or the 4WD version. The 2WD version weighs in at 1090 kg (2403 lbs) while the tractor with the 4WD chassis weighs in at 1179 kg (2600 lbs). The length also varies depending on the chassis. The tractor with the 2WD chassis has a total length of 2.8 m (110.6 inches) while the 4WD version is slightly smaller measuring in at 2.7 m (106.5 inches). The minimum turning radius of the 4WD is 2.5 m (8.2 feet) while the tractor with the 4WD chassis has a minimum turning radius of 2.4m (7.9 feet).

I simply love this tractor. I us it 5 to 6 months a year to blow snow Other than a problem of the shift lever hanging up between 1st and 2nd. I really have had no problems. I do my own maintenance which I am quite particular since I want to know that it is done correctly and on time. I would highly recommend this tractor to anyone, men or women. I purchased this tractor used with approx. 350 hours on it and it was just like new. It was not abused.

This kubota is my lifeline in the winter and I have complete trust in her.

Have had this tractor for 7 years. Only died on me once due to fuel jell in the fuel line. The only other problem is with starting. You have to get the foot pedal in the exact spot when turning the ignition switch in order for the starter to start. Trying now to find out which part connected to the foot pedal that needs adjustment or replacement. Other than that, it has been a great tractor. Not even an oil drip anywhere! I am well satisfied with it!

    Year of Manufacture: 2007
    Pros: Reliable
    Attachments: loader & backhoe
    Modifications: none

I pull a 5ft Woods bush hog and a heavy 6ft disk with this tractor without any problems.

    Year of Manufacture: 2010
Pros: Very reliable. I love the HST since I also have the front loader it makes things much simpler ,not having to shift each time I need to reverse direction. Don’t even think about, NOT getting the loader. It’s well worth the extra cost BELIEVE ME. This is my second Kubota tractor. I had my first, seven years and never had any problems. Wanted a front end loader so I upgraded to the L3400 4WD, HST. I compared this tractor to JD, Case and New Holand. The JD didn’t even come close. The 0% interest for 5 years beat out the other 2. I paid it off last month and just ordered one of their RTV500’s.
Cons: Fuel economy compared to my previous L3000 DT, 4WD sucks. I was told it’s because of the hydrostat. I burn about 30% more fuel with the L3400 pulling the same implements as I did with the L3000.

I also purchased a fiberglass top. It’s nice but I can’t keep it level. After a few bumps it wants to angle down some what.
