John Deere LX266

The John Deere LX266 tractor lawnmower is from the large ‘LX’ range of lawnmowers that are no longer produced. If you are looking for a smaller model in the LX series, then check out the John Deere LX188 lawnmower, but if you are looking for something a little bigger, then you may be interested in the John Deere LX277 tractor lawn mower. The JD LX266 is powered by a Kohler, one cylinder gasoline engine. This 16 horse power engine is battery started. The fuel tank is capable of holding up to 11.4 liters (3 US gallons) of gas.

Thanks to a hydrostatic transmission the John Deere LX266 does not need a gear stick. Instead it uses Twin Touch pedals to change speed and direction. This means that you will save a lot of time and effort operating this machine in confined or awkward spaces where you need to constantly switch from driving forwards to reversing. The max speed of the JD LX266 is 8.8 kph (5.5 mph). One of the truly fantastic features of this model is that the front axle has been constructed from cast iron so that there is very little risk of it buckling or breaking under extreme stress.

There are a number of mower decks that are compatible with the John Deere LX266 lawnmower. It comes with a 42 inch mower deck as standard, but you can also use a 38 inch, 44 inch or 48 inch mower deck with this machine. As well as this there are also a number of other implements that are compatible with this machine from front blades to John Deere snowblowers. no problems they should still make this model

    Year of Manufacture: 2001
Pros: like the battery bunny it goes and goes and goes. i pull a trailer with more than a quater cord of green oak with no problem the 42 inch mower works great and the bager is no problem with dry grass.i have over 2200 hours on it and have only had to replace the fuel pump. i wish deere still made it
    Cons: none
Attachments: mower and large home made trailer

Lawn Mower is fine but the grass catch is a waste of dollars.

    Year of Manufacture: 1998
    Pros: Good mower
Cons: Extremely hard to use a the grass catcher.

Attachments: Grass catcher suck’s, not enough wind to get grass up the chute if its at all damp. Inside of chute is rough, allowing grass to catch on all sides. Scrubing with a scrub brush helps.as well as a coat of poly of some sort. but any thing that cost $4,000.Plus should work better then a wizard costing $1250.

My old Wizard had a set of short 6′ to 7′ long “mulching blades” in seven years of catching grass withit I never recall once have the chute plug. My JD 266LX plugs 7 to 12 times per two hours of mowing at exceeding slow speeds.
