Snapper RE200

The Snapper RE200 is very similar to the Snapper RER13.5/30 rider lawnmower mower in many respects. One reason is that they both have the same power, 13.5 hp. The other reason is that they both have the same cutting width of 30 inches. However, most people see the RE 200 as an upgraded version of the RER 13.5/30. The engine powering the RE200 is a Intek Overhead Valve AVS. This one cylinder engine is keystarted using a 12 volt battery that gives 230 cold cranking amps. This engine then brings power to the wheels by first passing power through a Hydro Gear 510 hydrostatic gearbox. This means that there is no gear changing at all on this rear engine ride on lawnmower.

The hydrostatic transmission gives the Snapper RE200 a top speed of 8 kph (5 mph) traveling forwards and a top speed of 3.7 kph (2.3 mph) in reverse. The rear wheels which are powered by the engine measure 16×6.5-8 (16 inch diameter, 6.5 inch width, 8 inch rim diameter), while the front wheels which steer the lawnmower measure 13×5-6 (13 inch diameter, 5 inch width, 6 inch rim diameter). The mower deck itself has just one blade. It can be mechanically raised and lowered over and infinite number of heights ranging from 1 inch to 3.75 inches above the ground.

The fuel tank on the Snapper RE200 can hold up to 7.6 liters (2 US gallons) of gasoline. The frame of the RE 200 has been made from stamped steel which will not damage easily, while the front axle has been made from welded steel which has a very long lifespan. If you are buying this 30 inch rider lawnmower brand new, it comes with a 2 year limited warranty if you are purchasing if for residential use only. However if you are purchasing it for commercial use, then it comes with a 90 day warranty for the machine and 1 year limited warranty for the engine.

One Review of the “Snapper RE200”

  1. Roy Hall says:

I would not buy it again. It is the Jeep Wrangler of Riding Mowers. Pretty to look at but undependable and not up to the job. I hate to use the term, but it is junk. I made complaints to my dealer and received no help.

    Year of Manufacture: 2008
Pros: Turning radius very tight. Small profile makes it easy to store.
Cons: Leaf bagging attachment has many ill fitting parts, and is a nightmare to mount and unmount from the mower. The deck is impossible to adjust properly so the deck is constantly bottoming out.
The hardware (cables and simple small parts) keep breaking requiring dealer servicing. Very costly buy and costly to upkeep.
Attachments: As discussed above, the leaf bagging attachment is junk. It is faulty by design. The leaf vacumn tube is too small in diameter comming off the mower. It keeps getting clogged with leaves.
    Modifications: None made
