There are actually 2 different variants of the LX277. The regular John Deere LX277 is an upgraded version of the John Deere LX255 lawnmower and the John Deere LX266 lawn mower. However, the other version is the John Deere LX277AWS which is the same in practically every aspect, except for the fact that it’s got all wheel steering for increased maneuverability. Both models use the same engine, a 0.493 liter, Kawasaki FH500V, 2 cylinder, gasoline model. This air cooled engine has a power output of 17 hp and needs 1.8 liters of engine oil to fully fill it and keep it properly lubricated.

Like the rest of the John Deere ‘LX’ series, the John Deere LX277 uses a Tuff Torq transmission which makes it an automatic, doing away with the need for a gear stick and clutch. The shipping weight of the John Deere LX277AWS is obviously a little higher than the regular version. It tips the scales at 254 kg (560 lbs), while the regular version weighs in at 220 kg (487 lbs) when it’s being shipped. Probably the most important aspect of the AWS version is the fact that it’s turning radius is just 0.18 m (7 inches) while the turning radius of the regular version comes in at 0.51 m (20 inches).

One of the great things about the John Deere LX277 is that the hood has been made from Xenoy, which is a type of hard plastic that won’t corrode, rust or dent like steel can. The operators seat on the JD LX277 has a 15 inch high back for extra comfort, but more importantly, it can be adjusted forwards or backwards to give greater comfort. As with practically all John Deere lawnmowers, there are a large number of attachments that you can use on the LX277, from snow blades to baggers to thatchers.
