John Deere Gator TX

The John Deere Gator TX 4×2 utility vehicle is a a good bit bigger than the John Deere Gator TS, but it’s not nearly as big and powerful as the likes of the John Deere Gator XUV 625i or the John Deere Gator XUV 825i utility vehicles. The engine that does power the JD TX Gator is a 4 stroke Kawasaki. This 2 cylinder engine is air cooled and has a displacement of 0.675 liters. The engine is kept lubricated and prevented from excessive wear thanks to a full pressure lubrication system. The power output from the engine comes in at 19 hp. The air filters through a dry type air filter to remove particulate matter before it enters into the engine.

Thanks to a continuously variable transmission, the John Deere Gator TX has a top speed of 32 kph (20 mph) going forward, while in reverse, it has a very impressive top speed of 31 kph (19.3 mph). Maneuvering the JD Gator TX in tight spots is quite easy as it has a decent minimum turning radius of 3.65 m. The cargo box, situated behind the seating is capable of holding up to 272 kg (600 lbs) safely, while it has been designed to tow up to 454 kg (1000 lbs) behind it (provided it’s over flat ground and not on an incline).

The total weight of the John Deere Gator TX when it’s not loaded comes to 508 kg (1120 lbs) which may seem fairly high to some people for a machine that only has 19 hp. The wheelbase of the JD TX Gator comes to 1.84 m (72.5 inches) and it’s width is 1.53 m (60 inches). The total length of the machine comes in at 2.85 m (112.1 inches). You’ll notice that even when traveling over particularly bumpy terrain, you are offered a fairly smooth ride. This is thanks to it’s all wheel suspension.

One Review of the “John Deere Gator TX”

  1. Heidi Windsor says:

Don’t waste your money John Deere does not stand behind their products.

    Year of Manufacture: 2012
Cons: Stuck in reverse after 12 hours of use. Dealer states after 1 1/2 years it’s “out of warranty”. John Deere will not fix a known issue with my Gator TX. I’m being force to buy the extended warranty ($250.00) to cover the Gator TX after 12 hours of use??? Or a $650.00 bill?
