John Deere Gator TE

The John Deere Gator TE 4×2 is very different from the likes of the John Deere Gator XUV 825i or the John Deere Gator XUV 855D or even the John Deere Gator XUV 855D 4×4 utility vehicles. The main reason is obviously the fact that it’s not powered by diesel (or gasoline), but instead gets it’s power from a 48 volt electric system using 8 Trojan T 105 batteries. The fact that it’s an electric utility cart has one major benefit: acceleration. It can accelerate a lot faster than an equivalent engine powered by gasoline or diesel. However, as it’s an electric battery it’s more difficult to gauge how much power is left in the battery. It also takes a very long time to recharge fully (a massive 12 hours), whereas with a conventional engine, it’s just a simple matter of pouring the petrol in whenever you need to refuel.

The John Deere Gator TE is well designed and has large tires that offer lots of grip and traction, but won’t easily sink into the turf and potentially leave unsightly tire tracks. The rear wheels are the largest, measuring 25×12-9 (25 inch diameter, 12 inch width, 9 inch rim diameter) while the front wheels are a little smaller, measuring 22.5×10-8 (22.5 inch diameter, 10 inch width, 8 inch rim diameter).

The top speed of the John Deere Gator TE is 24 kph (15 mph) while in reverse it can hit a top speed of (9 mph) 14.5 kph. The JD TE Gator is a great little machine to have around your farm. However one annoying thing is that when you want to make a turn on it, the machine will automatically slow down so as to protect the electric drive train. This is one feature of the John Deere TE that can quickly become irritating. Other than that though this 4×2 utility cart is another top quality product from the team at John Deere.
