Husqvarna 2246LS

The Husqvarna 2246LS garden tractor lawn mower is very much an upgraded, more powerful model than the Husqvarna 2042LS. It also shares many similarities with the Husqvarna YTH2246 garden tractor lawn mower as they both have the same power and cutting width. The engine that powers the 2246 LS is a twin cylinder Briggs and Stratton with cast iron cylinder linings. This engine has a total volume of 0.721 liters and is part of Briggs and Stratton’s Endurance Series. The engine uses a full pressure lubrication system to ensure that everything runs smoothly without excessive wear. The power output from this engine is 22 hp.

Thankfully the Husqvarna 2246LS lawn tractor is a hydrostatic/automatic. This means that to control the speed of it, you just need to use the foot pedal to speed up or slow down, there is no gear changing on it at all. The engine powers the mower deck which is 46 inches wide. To be accurate, the cutting width of the mower deck is 46 inches. It’s total width is actually a bit higher than this as there is a plastic flap on the side of the deck which prevent the cut grass clippings (and other debris) from flying everywhere.

The mower deck on the Husqvarna 2246LS has 6 different operating heights from a low of .05 inches above your lawn to a high of 3.5 inches above your lawn. Raising and lowering of the deck is done with a hand lever that is spring assisted so it’s fairly easy to raise and lower the deck. The deck houses 2 blades. The operators seat on the 2246 LS has a 15 inch high back to offer great support and comfort to those using it for long, uninterrupted sessions. The fuel tank on this lawn tractor can hold up to 9.5 liters (2.5 US gallons) of gasoline. There are also optional mulcher and bagger attachments for this lawnmower.

I use this riding tractor/mower for mowing over and acre of lawn a week,my wife uses it also from time to time and she loves it,it turns easily and the seat adjust fairly easy for her.

    Year of Manufacture: 2010
Pros: Powerful, easy to drive and operate, mower deck removes easily for cleaning. I have owned this machine since new and I would buy another one in a heart beat. I also own a Husqvarna gas weed trimmer and gas push mower…no complaints on any of those either.
This mower has over 300 hrs on it,keep up the maintenance and you will get many years use out of this machine.
Cons: Only one…there is a bracket on the deck that broke, partially my fault and it seems it could have had extra welding added to to it for extra strength,I used to be a welder for a living and welded the bracket back in place.

Tractor has plenty of power however, tires have very little traction. Mower cuts uneven on hills.

    Year of Manufacture: 2008
Pros: Starts well, comfortable, maneuvers easily. Hydrostatic foot pedal is easy to use with little effort.
Cons: Smokes heavily on start up. Blue haze of smoke while running with occasional heavy periods. Embarrassing to use when the neighbors are out. It burns more oil than the 27 year old Craftsman I traded in. I took it to the dealer within the 2 year warranty period and I was told that the manufacturer won’t cover it unless it was using at least an once of oil every 10 hours.
    Attachments: Mower deck.
