Husqvarna YTH21K46

The Husqvarna YTH21K46 lawnmower is a garden tractor powered by a 21 hp engine and has a mower deck with a 46 cutting width. The engine that powers this Husqvarna 46″ lawn mower is built by Briggs and Stratton. It’s a 1 cylinder, Intek model that is air cooled and has a displacement of 0.597 liters. This is a gasoline powered engine fed from a 9.5 liter (2.5 US gallon) gas tank located in front of the driver. This power is then routed to the wheels using a Tuff Torq hydrostatic transmission. This gives the tractor mower a top speed of 8.4 kph (5.2 mph) going forwards.

husqvarna yth21k46The Husqvarna YTH21K46 tractor lawn mower weighs in at 199 kg (439 lbs). Without a bagger attachment on the back of it, it’s length comes to 1.75 m (69 inches) while it’s width is a maximum of 1.44 m (57 inches). Just remember that this is including the chute. As mentioned earlier, the mower deck has a cutting width of 46 inches. Both blades are ‘Hi-Performance’ blades which give a superior cut and finish. There are 2 anti-scalping wheels located at the front of the mower deck so as to prevent the mower deck on this Husqvarna 46inch lawnmower from scratching the surface of the lawn.

200 hours since new (2011 to 2020). Parts falling off, no quality control on assembly, bolts not tight, gaskets not seated, steering loose and sloppy, belt idler loose, muffler broke from fatigue, three blade guides cracked, both spindles broke, tires dry rotted from brand new, carb rebuilt twice, finally replaced, parts left off at assembly, been through five batteries.

All maintenance followed religiously, I am a very, very good mechanic and have fixed everything from wristwatches to classic cars, computers, electronics equipment, airplanes (my own), you name it. This is without a doubt the WORST piece of equipment I have ever had the misfortune to own. Even the sun shade (factory option) won’t stay on. This thing is ALWAYS busted and does a crappy job of mowing as well. Total junk, low quality parts and hardware, incompetent engineering, just slapped together and shoved out the door. The expression designed by idiots and assembled by monkeys comes to mind, but that is insulting to the idiots and the monkeys. This thing gives me more trouble than everything else I own put together.

Pros: None – piece of junk

I purchased this mower after my 12 year old Murray died and up until this year it has been exceptional. The deck has gotten to the point of needing a complete rebuild and one of the mounting brackets broke off. I’m not upset as this is an easy fix and this mower has been used hard on rough land. Overall I am satisfied, the Kohler has exceeded my expectations though the valves have had to have a little adjustment recently. I dont regret buying this mower and may get another husqvarna in a few years and keep this one as a backup.

Bought mine new. Performed all maintenance myself. All mower tires leak, slimed mine and took care of that. I cut four acres every two weeks. Had to do first major repair in 2016, but was only bushings in front wheels. This year it needs spindles/housings in deck. If they all lasted like this one they would not sell so many.

    Wouldn’t buy another.

Pros: great mower when it’s running fine.
Cons: I’ve spent alot of money on my YTH21K46 tractor. Now after mowing for about 10 to 15 minutes the tractor slows to almost a complete stop. I’ve replaced to drive belt , but that didn’t slove the problem. All I get from 2 different dealers is “Bring it in.” I think I’ll just scrap it.

Bought because of brand reliability. Owned mine since March 2012 and it’s been in for repairs over a half a dozen times. Deck broke. Repeated flat tire but not honored by warranty. Water got into carbeurator. Too much stuff to deal with this mower. can’t recommend a Husqvarna. Perhaps, once a great brand but not any more. Now made by MDT for Tractor supply. Hood emblem came off on third time in use. VERY DISAPPOINTED in purchase. Not worth what I spent on it.

Pros: Nice ride. Comfortable ride. Awesome power when works. Cuts evenly.
Cons: Unreliable. Sensitive kill switch. Sensitive with high grass.
Attachments: No attachments came with mine. None. Nada.
    Modifications: None made.

This is one awesome mower! The cut is beautiful (don’t know what the guy below me is talking about because there are no standing blades in my yard) and one tank of gas lasts for nearly 3 mows on a nearly 2 acre yard with many obstacles. The pass-through body allows me to get off the mower to mow a steep bank. Sure it’s not “safe” but it’s either that or push mow it, which would screw up my lines. Sometimes when adjusting the way I sit, the kill-switch will engage for a split second until I am settled. I also don’t like that there’s no fuel gauge and the fuel filler hole is kind of underneath the lip where the hood sits when closed. Other than that, I know this mower will last forever because I take good care of it. It’s a beautiful machine too…sounds weird, but I just like looking at it after it’s been cleaned. I’d rather have this than any other mower out there.

    Pros: Awesome cut
    Runs great
    Very efficient
    Pass through convenience
    Reverse mow switch
Thick-gauge deck w/ deck wash attachment
    Great turning radius
Compact design, even w/ 46 in. deck
Cons: Gas fill in awkward place
Kill switch in seat very touchy
    Attachments: None
    Modifications: None

i like the mower, just now the finished product.

    Year of Manufacture: 2010
    Pros: reliable, runs good, comfortable.
Cons: this model has only two blades; therefore, the cut path leave an slighly higher strip of grass in the middle. reason is the two blades have a gap between them. my next mower will have three blades.

    Modifications: none
