The Simplicity Citation zero turn lawnmower has a choice of 2 different engines when you are buying it new. These are either a Briggs and Stratton Vanguard Big Block engine that has a power output of 28 hp or a Kawasaki V twin cylinder engine that has an output of 25 hp. Both of these engines come with the same transmission to transfer power to the wheels. The transmission is a Hydro-Gear dual hydrostatic which gives the Citation infinite speeds in both forwards and in reverse also. The top speed when traveling forwards is 14.5 kph (9 mph) while when reversing it has a top speed of 8 kph (5 mph).

The mower deck on the Simplicity Citation varies in size depending on the engine you purchase it with. The mower deck that comes with the Kawasaki has a cutting width of 52 inches (and a total width of 62 inches due to the discharge flap protruding from the side). The mower deck that comes with the Briggs and Stratton motor has a much bigger cutting width of 61 inches (and a total width of 76 inches due to the discharge flap located at the side of the deck).

The total weight of the Simplicity Citation tractor lawnmower with the Kawasaki motor comes to 482.2 kg (1063 lbs) while the weight of the Citation with the Briggs and Stratton lawnmower comes to 497.6 kg (1097 lbs). The length of the mower comes to 2.02 m (79.5 inches) while the highest point on the mower measures 1.78 m (70 inches). When buying this lawnmower brand new, it comes with a 2 year limited warranty if you plan on using it exclusively for residential use. If you are buying it to be used by a commercial business, then the engine comes with a 1 year warranty, while the machine has a 90 day warranty. Other zero turn lawnmowers similar to this one include the Simplicity Champion and the Simplicity ZT4000 mowers.

One Review of the “Simplicity Citation”

  1. Richard Warner says:

Simplicity Citation XT. Mainly looking to vent on a maintenance issue, but there is nowhere to write to simplicity to ‘yell’ at them.
When you change your steering fluid, there is supposed to be a ‘bleeder’ bolt in the top of the pumps. It is in the manual, but in real world it is where the geniuses at Simplicity connected the hose to the reserve tanks. So besides being a bugger to disconnect, you couldn’t refill it with them off anyway.

    Year of Manufacture: 0
    Pros: strong, sturdy
    Cons: maintenance expensive and problematic
