Poulan Pro 380ZX

The Poulan Pro 380ZX zero turn lawnmower is one of the least powerful models of zero turn mower from Poulan Pro that in many ways is very similar to the Poulan Pro 301ZX except for the fact that the 380 ZX has a larger cutting width. The engine powering the 380ZX is an Intek from Briggs and Stratton. This gasoline powered engine pumps out 16.5 hp from it’s one cylinder. The engine transfers power to the wheels through an EZT dual hydrostatic transmission. This gearbox from Hydro-Gear allows the operator to control each rear wheel separately from the other one using the laps bars in front of him (there is no steering wheel).

The Hydro-Gear transmission gives the Poulan Pro 380ZX a top speed of 10.5 kph (6.5 mph). Even though the engine only  produces 16.5 hp, it has a fairly wide cutting width of 38 inches. The mower deck is constructed from stamped steel which means that it has less joints when compared to similar decks that are made from either bolted or welded steel. The mower deck has a cutting range of 2.5 inches from a high of 4 inches above the ground to a low of 1.5 inches above the ground. The mower deck is raised and lowered in small 0.5 inch increments. There are 2 blades housed in the mower deck. The 380 ZX is engaged manually.

The rear wheels on the Poulan Pro 380ZX zero turn lawnmower do almost all of the work as they are responsible for powering it as well as changing it’s direction. They also carry most of the 380ZX’s weight. This is why they are much bigger, measuring 18×7.5-8 (18 inch diameter, 7.5 inch width, 8 inch rim diameter) while the front wheels only keep the mower deck elevated above the lawn. The front wheels are correspondingly smaller, measuring 11×4-5 (11 inch diameter, 4 inch width, 5 inch rim diameter).
