The John Deere 4700 compact utility tractor enjoyed a 4 year production run from 2000 up until 2003. This tractor is compatible with a range of attachments, making it perfect for use in large gardens, estates and small farms as well as for commercial work. It can take a mid mounted 72 inch mower deck for cutting lawns. On the back it can accommodate a John Deere 48 backhoe for digging trenches or holes. A John Deere 460 loader can be used on the front for moving soil or animal feed. The hydraulics system that powers these attachments and many more on the JD 4700 is open and operates at 172.4 bar (2500 psi).

The engine powering the John Deere 4700 and it’s attachments is a Yanmar 4TNE88. This engine is diesel powered and has a total displacement of 2.2 liters. The engine is kept cool using a liquid cooling system that requires 7.2 liters of water to fully fill it from when it’s empty. The engine is a 4 cylinder model that fires at a compression ratio of 18:1. The engine is kept running smoothly thanks to a full pressure lubrication system that holds up to 4.8 liters of oil. It’s fairly easy to start the JD 4700 on a cold day thanks to a air heater that’s built into the engine.

The John Deere 4700 is the largest of the JD 4000 series. It is 3.42 m (135 inches) long and weighs in at 1632 kg (3600 lbs). If you would prefer something smaller, then the likes of the John Deere 4200 or the John Deere 4300 or even the John Deere 4600 tractors may interest you as they are also part of the 4000 series. Thankfully controlling this compact utility tractor is fairly easy thanks to the fact that it has power steering and also uses wet disc brakes to control it’s speed.
