The Cub Cadet Tank M48-KW zero turn lawn mower is one of the least powerful and narrowest Tank models offered by Cub Cadet. If you are looking for a Tank machine that has more power and a larger cutting width, then you should take a look at either the Cub Cadet Tank L60 or even the Cub Cadet Tank M54-KH lawn mowers. The engine that powers the M48KW Tank is a Kawasaki gasoline powered model. This engine is a twin cylinder model that has overhead valves and a full pressure lubrication system to add to it’s longevity. The engine has a total power output of 23 hp from a displacement of 0.675 liters. The air filter is a heavy duty, dual element type that is mounted remotely.

This 23 hp engine from Kawasaki powers the rear wheels on the Cub Cadet Tank M48-KW zero turn mower through a set of dual Hydro-Gear pumps that are connected to Parker wheel motors. This setup gives the M48 KW Tank a top speed of 19.3 kph (12 mph) going forwards, while in reverse, it can manage up to 8 kph (5 mph). The speed and direction of the lawn mower is controlled using the dual lap bars in front of the operator. By pushing the bars in alternative directions, you can initiate zero radius turns. The rear wheels through which power is transferred each measure 23×9.5-12 (23 inch diameter, 9.5 inch width, 12 inch rim diameter). The front wheels on the Tank M48-KW are smaller, but not particularly small for a zero turn lawn mower. They each measure 13×6.5-6 (13 inch diameter, 6.5 inch width, 6 inch rim diameter).

The deck on the Cub Cadet Tank M48-KW is floating and has a total cutting width of 48 inches. This deck can be adjusted in small 0.25 inch increments from a low of 1 inch above the ground to a high of 5 inches above the ground.
