The Husqvarna P-ZT4822 zero turn lawnmower is the smallest in new P-ZT line from Husqvarna. It has a cutting width of just 48 inches and is powered by a 22 hp Kawasaki FX series engine. This engine has a displacement of 0.726 liters and is air cooled. The twin cylinder engine is key started using a 12 volt battery that is recharged through a 15 amp alternator once the engine is running. The air filter on the PZT 4822 is a large canister style filter which has a very long life before it needs to be replaced. The lawnmower has dual fuel tanks (one on either side of the driver’s seat). Their total capacity comes to 41.6 liters (11 US gallons).
A Hydro Gear ZT 3400 dual hydrostatic transmission takes power form the engine and transfers it to each rear wheel separately to drive the Husqvarna P-ZT4822 forward. This transmission gives the lawnmower a maximum speed of 16.1 kph (10 mph) going forward, while in reverse it can manage a top speed of 8 kph (5 mph). The driver controls how much power is diverted to each wheel using the lap bars in front of him. The only time you need to use your foot is when you are raising or lowering the mower deck.
The mower deck on the Husqvarna P-ZT4822 has a cutting width of 48 inches as already mentioned. It is constructed from 11 gauge steel. Power is transferred from the engine to the triple bladed deck by engaging it with an electric clutch. The maximum cutting height of the mowing deck on the PZT4822 is 5.5 inches, but it can be lowered down to just 1.5 inches above ground level. When operating the deck, you have a choice of using a mulching kit or collecting the grass clippings in a bagger attachment. However, you can always just discharge the clippings out the side of the mower deck (although this can prove to be a little unsightly). The Husqvarna P-ZT6126 and the Husqvarna P-ZT5224 are larger models.
