Kubota RTV900

The Kubota RTV900 is one of Kubota’s most popular vehicles. There are actually 3 different models within the RTV900 series. The first is the Kubota RTV 900 General Purpose. This model measures 2.99 m (117.7 inches) long and weighs in at 845 kg (1863 lbs). The second is the Kubota RTV900 Utility Vehicle which measures 3.03 m (119.3 inches) in length and weighs in at 905 kg (1995 lbs). The third is the Kubota RTV 900 Worksite, which comes in a choice of either orange or camouflage, unlike the the others which are only available in Orange. The Worksite weighs in at 870 kg (1918 lbs).

The machine is powered by a Kubota designed and built D902-E3-UV diesel engine. This 4 stroke, 3 cylinder engine has a displacement of 0.9 liters and produces up to 21.6 hp. This power is transferred to the wheels via a variable hydro transmission. This gives the Kubota RTV900 a maximum speed of 25 mph (40 kph). All 3 models have the same width and height (which includes it’s roll cage). They are 1.52 m (59.8 inches) wide and are all 2.01 m (79.1 inches) high.

As the vehicle is so quick it uses wet disc brakes to slow down and control it’s speed. It is often used over very rough or uneven ground and has both a front and rear suspension to cope with this. Even with this suspension it could still easily lose control if it were not for it’s hydrostatic power steering. Probably the best thing about the RTV900 is that it has a hydraulic utility valve that powers a massive range of different tools that it can link up to. There are also a number of accessories for this vehicle such as a full cab to protect the operator from the elements. There is also a strobe light that can be mounted on the top of the cab to alert others of it’s presence. If you are looking for a bigger UTV model from Kubota, then check out the Kubota RTV 1100 Utility Vehicle. Or if you are looking for something similar but a little smaller, the check out the Kubota RTV500 Utility Vehicle.

I have only had this for about a month so this is just early evaluation on this model. I can’t say anything bad at this point. The transmission shifting takes a little to get use to. You may have to rev up just a little when changing from high to reverse to get it in gear (not that big of a deal). Defiantly get the hydro lift bed ( worth the extra money) and I got a top and windshield (actually included at no charge). Its easy and comfortable to drive. I added a led light bar on the front brush guard and one on the back of the cab. Both are on different switches. I installed a Harbor Freight 5k winch on the front. I also installed a led license plate light in the cab ( really helped seeing dash in the dark). I also added a phone holder on the dash ( $5 from Walmart). In the time I have had it, the fuel gauge has only moved one bar (approx. 40 hrs) Everything was fairly easy to wire (done right and neat). These things are not cheap (almost 15k) but it seems well built (I guess you get what you pay for). I almost got a Kawasaki but they are a belt drive vs shaft drive on Kubota. With proper care, I can see this lasting a long time. I also fitted a quick connect to the back of the cab for my sprayer tank with a switch in the cab. I can now drive down the drive and spray out the left side with no problem. These come with 4×4, locking rear end, shaft drive and hydro transmission. At the time they had 2yr no interest, so I took advantage of that. Overall I am well pleased. Not sure about the early models, but these are pretty neat.
