Cub Cadet SLT1550

The Cub Cadet SLT1550 garden tractor lawn mower is a slightly smaller version of the Cub Cadet SLT1554 tractor lawnmower. The mower deck on the SLT 1550 is 50 inches wide. This deck house 3 blades inside and also has a number of small plastic anti scalping wheels attached to the rim of the mower deck to stop it from catching and cutting into the lawn as you travel over it. For dealing with the grass clippings from the mower deck, you have a choice of either allowing them to get simply discharged out the side of the mower deck and left to rot on the lawn or instead you can use a mulching system. The most time intensive option is to purchase a rear bagger to collect the grass waste.

The engine that powers the mower deck (as well as the wheels) on the Cub Cadet SLT1550 is Courage SV730 model from Kohler. This engine has 2 cylinders and a total displacement of 0.725 liters. The max power output from the engine on the SLT 1550 is 25 hp. The engine is started with a key start transmission using a 12 volt battery to supply the engine with 235 cold cranking amps. The 12 volt battery then gets recharged via a 15 amp alternator once the engine is running. The battery is also responsible for powering the headlights on the SLT1550 lawnmower.

The engine powers the rear wheels on the Cub Cadet SLT1550 tractor mower. These are larger than the front wheels, measuring 22×9.5-12 (22 inch diameter, 9.5 inch width, 12 inch rim diameter). The front wheels which steer the SLT 1550 each measure 15×6-6 (15 inch diameter, 6 inch width, 6 inch rim diameter). The top speed that the lawn mower can travel at is 8.4 kph (5.2 mph) going forwards. If you have previously operated this tractor lawnmower, then please leave your thoughts on it in a review below.

I don’t have any problems with this tractor. the deck rusts real easy. if you keep it clean it rusts from water left on it. if you don’t clean it, it rusts from the moisture that the dirt and grass collects. when i get ready to buy another i’ll still buy a cub cadet.

    Year of Manufacture: 2007
Pros: cuts great, no break downs except fuel relay after first year. nothing since.
Cons: tires loosing air pressure. cleaning around belt pulleys. I removed the covers.
Modifications: my son runs a machine shop, so i had him make me a trailer hitch since the one on the tractor sucks.
