Craftsman DGT6000

The Craftsman DGT6000 garden tractor lawn mower is not the most well known machine from the guys at Craftsman. This lawnmower is however extremely powerful with a 27 hp gasoline power engine from the team at Kohler. This engine is a twin cylinder with cast iron lined cylinders. It’s air cooled and uses a paper air filter to clean the air intake of dust and other particulate matter before it enters into the combustion chambers. This engine is started using 12 volt battery supplying 280 cold cranking amps that is then recharged using a 15 amp alternator. The engine uses a fully pressurized lubrication system that has a maximum capacity to hold up to 1.9 liters of oil. The fuel tank supplying gasoline to the engine can hold a huge amount at 18.9 liters (5 US gallons).

The power from the engine is transferred to the wheels of the Craftsman DGT6000 through a Hydro-Gear hydrostatic transmission. This makes the DGT 6000 an automatic with unlimited speeds traveling forwards and in reverse. It’s top speed going forwards comes to 9.3 kph (5.8 mph) while in reverse it’s top speed is 3.4 kph (2.1 mph). Thanks to the power from the engine, the mower deck on the DGT 6000 is very large with a cutting width of 52 inches. It houses 3 blades that work a lot more efficiently than one single blade of 52 inches to cut your lawn. With the plastic discharge flap on the side of the mower deck, it’s total width is actually a lot higher, over 60 inches.

For dealing with the grass clippings from the mower on the Craftsman DGT6000, you have 3 choices; leave them to rot on the grass (which can leave your lawn looking incredibly ugly), mulch them (which is a better option) or collect them in a rear bagger which is the best option (but is the most time intensive).
