The Toro Z Master Z528 zero turn lawn mower, when bought brand new comes with a choice of 2 different sized mower decks. The smaller deck has a cutting width of 52 inches, while the larger deck has a cutting width of 60 inches. Both decks have 3 blades, each made from 1/4″ thick metal that has been heat treated so that the edges stay sharper for longer. The blades are housed inside a 7 gauge steel deck. The depth of the deck on the Z 528 Z-Master is quite high at 5.5 inches which allows it to easily accommodate even very long grass without choking up. The height of the deck can be adjusted over a range of 3.5 inches from a low of 1.5 inches above the ground up to 5 inches above the ground.

On the leading edge of the mowing deck on the Toro Z Master Z528, you will notice a number of small plastic gauge wheels. These keep the deck from ‘scalping’ the ground as it travels over it. For dealing with the grass clippings, many people just discharge them out the side of the deck. However this can make your lawn look messy, especially if the grass is long, as it will take many weeks to rot. The alternative is to install a ‘Recycler’ mulching kit to turn the clippings into a nutritious mulch. The last option is to collect the grass clippings in a rear attached bagger.

The engine that powers the Toro Z Master Z528 zero turn lawnmower is a twin cylinder Kawasaki. This engine comes with overhead valves and a full pressure lubrication system to help extend the operating life of the engine. If you have ever owned or used a Z528 Z Master lawn mower, then please leave a review of it below. Other models in the Z Master range include the Toro Z Master Z420 and the Toro Z Master Z380 lawnmowers.
