Toro TimeCutter ZX480

The Toro TimeCutter ZX480 zero turn lawn mower has a mower deck with a cutting width of 48 inches. The blades on this mower deck are belt driven. The blades are made from 1/4″ thick steel. The steel has been heat treated so that the blades stay sharper longer. The mower deck can be raised and lowered over a total of 7 different positions from a high of 4.5 inches down to a low of 1.5 inches above the ground. The mowing deck is raised and lowered using a spring assisted foot pedal. The blades on the ZX 480 TimeCutter are engaged using a Mag-Stop electric PTO clutch. There are a total of 3 different options for dealing with the cut grass clippings. Many people purchase the optional bagger attachment to collect the clippings, while others use a mulcher kit. Alternatively, you can just discharge the clippings out the side of the deck.

The engine powering the mower deck on the Toro TimeCutter ZX480 zero turn lawnmower is a Briggs and Stratton twin cylinder model which pumps out 18 hp from a total displacement of 0.656 liters. The engine is started using a 12 volt battery. It features a dual element air filter to clean the air intake before it reaches the combustion chambers. The Briggs and Stratton uses a full pressure lubrication system with a spin on oil filter. Power from the engine reaches each rear wheel independently thanks to a system of dual C-IZT hydro drives and Charge pumps.

The amount of power each rear wheel receives is controlled using the dual levers in front of the driver. The rear wheels have a turf thread and each measure 18×10.5 (18 inch diameter, 10.5 inch width), while the front tires are much smaller, measuring 10×4 (10 inch diameter, 4 inch width). Other TimeCutter models include the Toro TimeCutter Z4220 and the Toro TimeCutter Z5000 lawnmowers which are of a similar size to this one.
