Toro TimeCutter SS5060

The Toro TimeCutter SS5060 zero turn radius lawnmower is the largest and most powerful machine in the TimeCutter series from Toro. If you are looking for less powerful or smaller machines, then you should take a look at the Toro TimeCutter SS4360 or the Toro TimeCutter SS5000 lawn mowers. The SS 5060 is powered by an air cooled, twin cylinder Kawasaki engine that produces 24 hp to power both the wheels and the mower deck. The fuel tank on this model holds a maximum of 11.4 liters (3 US gallons) of gas.

The engine powering the Toro Time Cutter SS5060 mower transfers it’s power to the wheels via a dual hydrostatic transmission. This makes it an automatic. More importantly, it allows the operator to control the speed of each rear wheel independently. This is what allows the TimeCutter SS 5060 to turn on a dime. So the rear wheels control both the speed and direction of the mower. The front wheels have much less responsibility. Their sole responsibility is to support the weight of the mower deck and prevent it from scalping the ground it’s traveling over. The front wheels are small, measuring 13×5 (13 inch diameter, 5 inch width) while the rear wheels are a lot bigger measuring 18×9.5 (18 inch diameter, 9.5 inch width).

The Toro TimeCutter SS5060 zero turn lawn mower is compatible with a few different attachments. While it can obviously accommodate a rear bagger, it can also take a ‘Recycler’ kit, which is just a fancy name for a mulching kit. There also a hitch kit allowing you to attach a small cart to the back. The mower deck on the SS 5060 has a 50 inch cutting width and a top speed of 11.3 kph (7 mph) which allows it to cut huge areas of grass very quickly.

One Review of the “Toro TimeCutter SS5060”

  1. Keith says:

Salesguy talked me out of a recycling kit, said this machine doesn’t
    need it, he was right.
If your cutting a few inches off your grass, you won’t notice clppings.
I cut about a half acre with heavy landscping/trees
When I bought my house my father in law was mowing it with a 38
inch tractor in 1.5 hours, with the 5060 I mow it in less than 45 minutes

    Year of Manufacture: 2011
    Pros: Easy starts
Two speesd ranges, high and low- this was one reason I bought this machine I use both to cut my lawn and it makes it easy to trim around bushes when in low range, switch to high for wide open spaces
Bagging system performance is top notch- I liked th rear bagger, the Hustler I looked at didn’t have one available
I was plowing through 10 inch deep leaves and it was sucking them up
    Never clogged-

Cons: One think I didn’t like about 0 turns is they tear up the lawn a little when turning
I managed to find just the right radii when turning to minimize it
No other problem so far after 1 season of mowing
    Attachments: Dual rear bagger-
