The Toro TimeCutter SS4260 zero turn lawn mower uses a Kawasaki engine to power it. This engine is a gasoline powered model with 2 cylinders that have a total displacement of 0.726 liters. The engine is thankfully key started and is a 4 stroke model. The engine has a total power output of 22 hp. As the SS 4260 is a zero turn lawn mower, there is no steering wheel or accelerator pedal. Instead there is 2 lap bars which are used to control both the speed and direction of the machine. Pushing the lap bars in opposite directions is what allows the operator to execute a zero radius turn on the lawn mower.
The top speed of the Toro TimeCutter SS4260 comes in at 11.3 kph (7 mph) when traveling forwards, while in reverse it can hit a top speed of just 4.8 kph (3 mph). Power is transferred to the wheels of the Time Cutter SS 4260 hydrostatically which thankfully means no gear changing. The rear wheels are much larger that the front wheels as they carry most of the machines weight as well as power the lawn mower forwards/backwards. They each measure 18×7.5 (18 inch diameter, 7.5 inch width). The front wheels dont’ carry much weight. They also don’t provide any traction. This is why they are smaller as well as bald. They each measure 11×4 (11 inch diameter, 4 inch width).
The mower deck on the Toro TimeCutter SS4260 zero turn mower has a total cutting width of 42 inches. This deck has 2 blades. The deck is made from steel which offers great strength and durability. The deck can cut grass as low as just 1.5 inches above the ground, but can be raised as high as 4.5 inches above the ground. In total the mower deck has 7 cutting heights. Similar models to this one include the Toro TimeCutter SS4235 and the Toro TimeCutter Z4200 zero turn lawn mowers.
