The Snapper ZT2446 zero turn lawn mower is just as often used by professional gardeners and landscaping contractors as it is by individuals. It’s part of the Snapper 355Z series of zero turn lawnmowers. The Snapper ZT2654 is a slightly more powerful model in the 355Z series with a much larger cutting width. The engine powering the ZT 2446 is an Extended Life Series engine with overhead valves from Briggs and Stratton. This engine has 2 cylinders and total displacement of 0.34 liters. The total power output from the engine is 24 hp. You can tell that this lawnmower is regularly used by professionals due to the fact that it’s gas tank can hold up to 24.6 liters (6.5 US gallons) of gasoline.

Power from the engine on the Snapper ZT2446 gets to the rear wheels through a 2800 Sealed Dual Hydros gearbox from Hydro-Gear. This dual hydrostatic transmission transfers power to each rear wheel independent of the other. It’s the ability to control the amount of power each rear wheel receives independently that allows the ZT 2446 to make zero radius turns. The top speed of this lawnmower is 11.3 kph (7 mph), while in reverse it can hit a top speed of 8 kph (5 mph). Braking is done with cog brakes.

The cutting width of the Snapper ZT2446 comes in at 46 inches. The mower deck is obviously wider than this due to the discharge flap located at the side (it’s total width is 56 inches). The deck houses 3 mower blades which work together to give a smoother and more even cut than one blade, spinning alone would give. Adjusting the mower deck up and down is done manually with a spring-assisted lever from 1.5 inches above the ground to 4.5 inches above the ground over 7 different height positions. The ZT 2446 comes with an optional mulcher kit and optional 10 bushel grass collector.
