The Snapper 26/48 zero turn lawnmower is considered by most to be the highest quality commercial zero turn lawnmower from Snapper. It’s part of Snapper’s 500Z series of lawnmowers. The engine that powers the 2648 is an Extend Life Series OHV engine from Briggs and Stratton. This engine is a twin cylinder with a total displacement of 0.34 liters. The engine produces an output of 26 hp. The fuel capacity of the gas tank is very large. It’s capable of holding up to 30.3 liters (8 US gallons) of gasoline which is enough for many hours of continuous operation before it will need to be refilled.

Power from the engine on the Snapper 26/48 is transferred to the rear wheel using a dual hydrostatic Hydro-Gear transmission, the ZT-2800. This transmission gives the 2648 a top speed of 12.9 kph (8 mph) when traveling forwards. But this decent top speed is not the most important thing that the dual hydrostatic transmission gives the lawnmower. It’s the fact that it allows the operator to control each rear wheel independently that is so appealing as it allows you to make turns with no radius (i.e. zero radius turns).

The 3 blade mower deck on the Snapper 26/48 has a cutting width of 48 inches. It operates from 1.5 inches above the ground to 4.5 inches above the ground. It can be adjusted in increments as low as 0.25 inches so that you will practically always be able to get the cutting height that you want. The rear wheels on this machine are quite big with measurements of 20×10-10 (20 inch diameter, 10 inch width, 10 inch rim diameter) while the front wheels measure 11×4-5 (11 inch diameter, 4 inch width, 5 inch rim diameter). If you are looking commercial zero turn lawnmowers that are similar to the Snapper 2648, then you may be interested in checking out the Snapper ZT2446 or the Snapper ZT2654 zero turn mowers.
