Poulan Pro PB30

The Poulan Pro PB30 ride on lawn mower is a rear engine rider mower. This makes it very different from the tractor mowers that Poulan manufacture like the Poulan PO19542LT and the Poulan PO12530LT tractor lawn mowers. The PB 30 is pretty much the smallest ride on mower that you can get. The variable speed, Briggs and Stratton engine that powers it only has an output of just 11.5 hp. This engine powers both the mower deck and the wheels. Interestingly, the wheels on this machine are not even that big. The rear wheels measure just 16 inches in diameter, while the front wheels measure 13 inches in diameter.

poulan pro pb30The mower deck on the Poulan Pro PB30 lawn mower has a cutting width of 30 inches (which is very obvious from the name). Unlike practically all ride on and tractor lawn mowers which have mowing decks with multiple blades, the mower deck on the PB 30 has just one single blade. The total width of the mower deck is a good bit higher than 30 inches as the plastic discharge chute is located on the side of the mower deck.

As there is no differential lock on the Poulan Pro PB30, it has a very large minimum turning radius of 30 inches which means that it is not that agile in tight spots unfortunately. However it is very light, with a shipping weight of just 167.8 kg (370 lbs). The front axle on the PB 30 is constructed from stamped steel which makes it very durable and enables it to handily withstand most knocks and bumps during operation. Very very, bad.. Apparently, the company new this design was not workable because they now sell it with a different geared transmission.
I’m going to replace it with a corded electric push mower.

    Year of Manufacture: 2013
Pros: 30 inch mower is the size I wanted.
Cons: This is my first riding lawn mower. I bought it new at Sutherlands in El Dorado, KS, for $900.00 plus tax. I wish I had never seen it. I have a small yard, but my wife wanted a mower she could use….Big mistake.
Although we’ve mowed 1/4 acre with it for 2.0 seasons it has less than 60 total hours on it. I has always been well maintained (2 oil changes) and stored in a dry shed. I’ve cleaned the drive plate three times and spayed it and the belt with sticky belt dressing to keep it moving. The motor and chassis look and work like new. Yesterday, it refuses to move under it’s own power at all, something in the clutch is broken. I looked on the internet and the working parts of the clutch are no longer sold. SOO.. now it is a pretty expensive piece of junk that cannot be repaired. NEVER again will I buy anything that says Poulan or Husqvarna (the parent company) It is a total ripoff company.

    SUCKS!

    Year of Manufacture: 2012
Pros: Initially it cut nice. It was brand new.
Cons: Transmission. Piece of junk. This mower has so few hours on it I find it hard to believe the transmission is shot. Did anyone test this before they decided to put their name on it and ask the public to spend $700 on it? Home Depot is still selling the latest version with a different transmission. I would warn anyone I see even considering this mower. I would never buy from a company that does this to customers. If they did it once, they certainly wouldn’t think twice about a second shot.

Junk I will never buy anything that has your company name again…..

    Year of Manufacture: 0
    Pros: Nothing
Cons: Last about a year there is a recall on training but u get no help. I suggest not to waste your money. It’s a pice of junk.
    Modifications: Need the recall.

It works to cut grass. I do not recommend it for lawns that are small or not perfectly flat as there is no suspension.

    Year of Manufacture: 0
Pros: It starts and it cuts grass.
Cons: No drive power and very little reverse, tranny slips. cleaning friction disk helps only temporarilly. Will not go into neutral. Have to drag the tractor out of garage. All of these problems began after only about 20 hours of operation.

    It sucks!!!!

    Year of Manufacture: 2011
    Pros: none
Cons: Do not buy this mower–A 700 dollar piece of junk. As in the previous review tranny started slipping after only 20 hours of mowing. Cleaning the friction disc only helps for a short time. I replaced the friction disc and had the same problem after only a few hours. very poor tranny design!! Avoid this mower

its a neat looking model, but the transmission slipps and causes it to not have much power and the way the wiring is set up and ran isn’t very good.

    Year of Manufacture: 2011
Cons: I ran it for about a month, then a belt broke and tore out all the electricle. then it sate in the shop for 7 months waighting on parts. After I got it back i used it a couple of times, then it wouldn’t shut off, so I had to wire in a kill switch, then it wouldn’t turn on, wich ended up being a bad starter solenoid.

When i first got it, it seemed a little whimpy, as far as the transmission goes. It slipped a lot. and it slipps real bad now and can’t hardly go. The manufacture recomenation for the transmission slipping is the wipe off the friction disc. Which i do frinqently and that helps a little bit, sometimes it don’t improve at all, and now i have a wearing sound when the blade is engaged. which is what it did just before the belt broke last time.
