I would have probably been better off to have stuck $2000 up a hog’s butt and hollered “Suey!!” The tractor part is fine but unfortunately I need one that will mow and this one doesn’t.

    Year of Manufacture: 2005
Pros: 22 HP Briggs has plenty of power. Love the idea of having a 54″ mower deck. Lots of grease fittings, and each deck spindle is greasable! that’s always a plus.
Cons: Unfortunately, the 54″ mower deck clogs up on the far left blade. The mower will mow fine if the grass is short and you’re merely doing a little city yard maintenance clipping, but once you get into taller grass forget it. The left blade clogs up and will not mow. I constantly have to stop and start the deck to get it to unclog. Then when I begin mowing again, it clogs up again. I’ve never had any trouble with other 3 blade mowers. I’ve replaced the blades with gator blades, no effect, replaced the deck spindle on the far left, no help either. I’ve removed the mower deck to see if anything is bent causing the problem, everything is as it should be. But, I did notice that part of the deck may be made incorrectly from the factory. The long piece of UU shaped metal welded to the bottom of the deck that gives each blade it’s circle (to create a better vacuum I suppose) is higher on the far left than it is on the outlet/exit side. I think this is causing the problem. I purchased the tractor new in 2007 although it turned out to be a 2005 model. The local garden tractor place where I purchased has idiots for mechanics. So I called Poulan Pro to find out if anyone else had any similar problems or if there was a recall on these? They offered to sell me a deck shell for $500. Lots of help huh. I told them that’s ok, I’ll break out the blow torch and trim it down somehow and save the $500 towards the purchase of a different brand. Better Business Bureau would probably be a better idea. Some of their 54″ decks have mfg flaws and they know it. Someone at the factory installed that deck piece backwards and welded it into place. Not all are like this, my neighbor purchased his at the same time I purchased mine and his has no clogging problems.

    Modifications: I added gator blades.

    Excellent!

    Year of Manufacture: 2010
Pros: I love this mower. I own 40 acres with the front pasture being 5. I don’t live at the farm full time, so I’m not there every 2 weeks to cut the grass. The last time I did it was over 10″ tall and the mower just cut right trough it. The 54″ deck makes cutting 5 acres easy (less than 2 hours). The pasture in some what flat and I haven’t yet found that it gets stuck. I also don’t have the issue with the deck getting clogged. When I say the mower is reliable, I mean it’s bulletproof. Sits all winter and fires up each spring. NEVER HAD AN ISSUE!
Cons: The only CON I have is when I attached the 3 bucket grass catcher the shoot does get clogged easily. I do attribute some of this to the fact that the grass is long when I’m cutting it.
Attachments: 3 bucket grass catcher…easliy installed and removed when not in use.

Utility cart that’s pulled behind. I load this up with logs and brush and have not experienced an issue pulling it. I also have a John Deere E3032 Tractor, but it’s easier to pull out the mower.

    Modifications: none

Based on what I’ve seen from this machine I shouldve spent a little more money and got a mower with a more established name behind it. It just doesn’t perform anywhere near like it should. I don’t feel like this is a machine problem this is a company problem. This is not the first time I’ve had trouble with poulon pro. There products just don’t seem to measure up in terms of reliability and durability as well as in this case performance. Unfortunalty now I gotta eat this 2200 bucks unless poulon and husqvarna decide they wanna make this right and trade me out for the zero turn model which from what I hear has been much better built to deal with the problems that I am having. Considering all the headaches and delays tha I’vehad trying to keep my yard in good order I feel like it should be a fair trade

    Year of Manufacture: 2010
Pros: Has all the power you could ever ask for in a mower. I love the hydrostatic. I have a 3 acre yard and with the flexibility of the machine and the shear size of the cutting deck it makes quick work out of my lawn.
Cons: Cloggs way to easily. That metal skirt around the front of the deck on the bottom is a nightmare. I pull huge clumps out of there everytime I clean it out. And I’m having to stop and clean it about twice everytime I mow. Also the back tires need to be bigger. With this extremely wide deck its very easy to get stuck in the right places. Especially with a deck that won’t raise as high as most other models. I’m beginning to wish I wouldve went with the cub cadet zero turn that I was considering. I just don’t feel like I’m getting my 2200 dollars worth out of this machine
Attachments: No attachments. I just want it mowed with a nice clean cut. Which I’m not getting. I’m have to b ackup constantly to make second passes at stuff it should be cutting easily
Modifications: They need to beef this mower up. This is suppossed to be the granddady of all the other models and it has really disappointed me. It doesn’t cut like it should, its stuck constantly, (my yard is nearly flat by the way) its clogged constantly. These issues need to be researched and addressed
