The Kubota L4400 compact utility tractor is very similar to both the Kubota L2800 and the Kubota L3400 tractors. However the L 4400 tractor is considerably bigger and more powerful. The engine powering this tractor is an E-TVCS that is designed and built in house by Kubota themselves. This engine uses indirect injection and is a 4 cylinder, 4 stoke motor that has a total engine size of 2.197 liters. This engine has a gross power output of 45.3 hp and a net power output of 43 hp. The maximum power that has been measured from the PTO is 37.5 hp. Then engine uses a 12 volt battery to start it. This battery supplies the engine with 582 cold cranking amps.

The Kubota L4400 comes with a choice of configurations. You can get it with either a 2WD or 4WD chassis. You also have a choice when it comes to the transmission. You can get either a sliding gear and constant mesh gearbox that gives the L 4400 eight speeds when traveling forwards and 4 for reversing. The other choice in transmission is a hydrostatic transmission that gives the tractor unlimited speeds in a Hi, Medium and Lo range. For braking, the tractor is equipped with quality wet disk brakes. Gear changing on the tractor is done with a dry type, single stage clutch.

The Kubota L4400 compact utility tractor can accommodate a large range of useful attachments and implements. These include a choice of rear mounted rotary tillers. There are 3 choices, a 40 inch, a 50 inch or a 60 inch rotary tiller. These all attach to the category 1, 3 point hitch. This hitch has a maximum lifting capacity of 1300 kg (2870 lbs). A rear mounted dual stage snow blower can also be attached to the L4400. This is a very large snowblower with a cutting width of 74 inches. This tractor can also use a backhoe and front loader.
