John Deere Z465

The John Deere Z465 zero turn lawn mower is much bigger than the likes of the John Deere Z425 or the John Deere Z445 zero turn mowers. The engine powering the JD Z465 is a 27 hp mammoth. This V twin engine has a displacement of 0.724 liters and is air cooled. The fuel tank feeding gas to the engine can hold up to 13.2 liters (3.5 US gallons) of gasoline very easily allowing for a reasonable operating time before it needs to be refilled. As the fuel tank is not incredibly large, it would indicate that this machine is used mostly in residential settings and not very widely on large commercial jobs.

Traveling forward, the John Deere Z465 zero turn radius lawnmower has a top speed of 13.7 kph (8.5 mph) going forward, while in reverse it can hit a top speed of up to 5.6 kph (3.5 mph). This is facilitated by the ZT 2800, Hydro-Gear, dual hydrostatic transmission. Direction and speed of the JD Z 465 is controlled by the twin lap bars located in front of the driver. The machine has a cutting width of 62 inches. The wheelbase of the lawnmower comes to 1.25 m (49 inches) while it measures 1.93 m (76 inches) long.

The John Deere Z465 is a very useful machine, especially in tight spaces. However, it should be noted that this machine does not have an optional bagger attachment, which means that you either need to mulch the grass clippings or discharge them on the lawn, both of which are not nearly as neat looking as a lawn where the clippings have been collected. Fortunately though, there is an optional mounted sprayer attachment that you can add on to the JD Z465. As John Deere is probably the most well known manufacturer of lawn mowers, it’s no surprise that this one comes with a 4 year/300 hour warranty as standard.

One Review of the “John Deere Z465”

  1. Vern Simmons says:

    Excellent

    Year of Manufacture: 2008
Pros: I feel like a kid on a Go-Cart when I’m mowing 8 plus acres. I love it!
A lose for words after that. IT”S GREAT.
Cons: The battery could be a little easier to remove.
I mow with the deck all the way up and the clippings tend to come out the front, even with the shoot up. All is well.
Attachments: Catcher is not available for the larger size
    Modifications: none needed.
