The John Deere JS26 walk behind lawn mower gets it’s power from a 4 stroke, Briggs and Stratton engine that has been specifically designed for use in JD push mowers. It has a displacement of 0.19 liters which produces 7 ft-lbs of torque that both drives the lawnmower forward and powers the mower deck. To start the engine, you need to pull on the pull cord recoil system. The engine has been specially designed so that you don’t need to use the choke (which can potentially flood the engine) to start it. The JD JS26 push lawnmower has a number of safety features built in to protect the operator in case of lose of control during operation. For instance, the minute you let go of the main controls, the engine stops and the blade stops moving.

The mower deck on the John Deere JS26 has a cutting width of 22 inches. Once the grass has been cut you have 3 options: 1) You can collect the clippings in a bag attached at the back of the machine to leave your lawn with no rogue clumps of grass leftover. 2) You can discharge the grass clippings out the side of the lawn mower away from the operator. 3) You can use a mulching plug which prevents the grass clippings from being blown away from the JD JS26 but instead keeps them within the mower deck until they are thoroughly cut up allowing them to quickly decompose and return their nutrients to the ground.

The height of the mower deck on the John Deere JS26 can be adjusted from a very low 1.2 inches above the ground to 4.2 inches above the ground. Most importantly, the JD JS26 is incredibly easy to operate, which means that if you have a huge amount of grass to cut, you will find the job relatively easy. If you are looking for a bigger version of this walk behind push lawn mower, then consider the John Deere JS36 or the John Deere JS46 push mowers.
