The John Deere 8800 TerrainCut rough lawn mower is designed specifically for use on golf courses. This lawnmower uses the same engine as you’ll find on the John Deere 8700 PrecisionCut lawn mower. This is a diesel engine from Yanmar that has a max power output of 43.1 hp and a net output of 42hp. The engine uses an intercooled turbocharging system and has 3 cylinders. The incoming air into the engine first passes through dry element, dual stage air filter before it enters into the combustion chamber which removes any impurities from the air. Power from the engine is transferred to the four wheels through a servo controlled hydrostatic pump. The rear wheels are responsible for steering the JD 8800 rough mower. These each measure 20×10-8 (20 inch diameter, 10 inch width, 8 inch rim diameter) while the front wheels are a bit larger, each measuring 26×12-12 (26 inch diameter, 12 inch width, 12 inch rim diameter). The pressure that these wheels exert on the ground is 12 psi which is not enough to leave any serious thread marks.

The top speed of the John Deere 8800 TerrainCut going forwards is 20.1 kph (12.5 mph) when the the mowing units are raised. However, when they are lowered, it has a slightly lower top speed of 12.8 kph (8 mph). When reversing, it can attain a top speed of 6.4 kph (4 mph).

In total there are 5 mower decks that work together on the John Deere 8800 TerrainCut to give it a total cutting width of 88 inches. The cutting width of each mower deck comes to 21 inches. The mower decks themselves are all constructed from 10 gauge steel. They can each be raised and lowered from high of 4 inches above the ground down to a low of 1 inch above the ground. The JD 8800 comes with a 2 year limited warranty when you are purchasing it brand new.
