The John Deere 8650 articulated tractor is designed specifically for pulling incredibly large loads. This tractor uses a diesel engine manufactured by JD. The engine is a 6 cylinder motor with a total displacement of 10.1 liters. The engine doesn’t overheat thanks to a radiator system that holds up to 45.4 liters of water. The engine fires at a compression ratio of 15.2 to 1. The engine uses a combination of an aspirator along with a dual paper air filter to stop dust and other particles from getting into the combustion chambers. The lubrication system on the JD 8650 holds a maximum of 26.5 liters of oil. Starting the engine is done with dual 12 volt batteries. The batteries are recharged by a 110 amp alternator when the engine is running. The fuel tank which supplies the engine with diesel can hold a huge amount, 810 liters (214 US gallons) to be exact. The max power output from the engine is 290 hp.

The hydraulic system on the John Deere 8650 tractor holds a maximum of 141.9 liters (37.5 US gallons) of hydraulic fluid. This is a closed system that operates with a valve flow rate of 121.1 liters per minute (32 US gallons per minute). The rear hitch (category 3/3N) is powered by this hydraulic system. It can lift up to 4200 kg (9260 lbs). There are a large range of wheel choices on the JD 8650 tractor.

Both the rear and front wheels on the John Deere 8650 are the same size. The smallest wheels that you can get measure 18.4-38 (18.4 inch width, 38 inch rim diameter), while the largest wheels each measure 23.1-34 (23.1 inch width, 34 inch rim diameter). You will see many JD 8650 tractors with dual wheels attached for added grip. If you are looking for a larger, more powerful model in the same series as this machine, then check out the John Deere 8850, while if you desire a smaller machine, the John Deere 8450 may take your fancy.
