The John Deere 8360R tractor is the biggest, most powerful pulling tractor in the 8R series from JD. It’s from the same series of PowerTech PSX engines that power the rest of the 8R series from JD. It’s a diesel with dual turbochargers that recirculate exhaust gas and have air-to-air after cooling. This 6 cylinder engine is liquid cooled via a liquid cooling system that has a total capacity to hold up to 41 liters of water. The engine fires at a compression ratio of 16:1 and is lubricated by a full pressure lubrication system that has a capacity to hold 28 liters of oil. The engine has the option of an engine block heater to help with starting in particularly cold climates.

The only transmission available on the John Deere 8360R is an infinitely variable transmission that gives the tractor infinite gears/speeds both in forwards and in reverse also. The hydraulics system on the JD 8360R is a closed center, pressure-flow compensated system that operates at 200 bar (2900 psi). This powers the rear 4N/3 hitch that has a lifting capacity of 8300 kg (18,300 lbs). There is also the option of front hitch too. This is a 3N/2 hitch that has a lifting capacity of up to 5579 kg (12,300 lbs).

The fuel tank on the John Deere 8360R is capable of holding up to 695 liters (183.6 US gallons) of diesel, which means that it doesn’t need to be constantly topped up. The wheelbase of this tractor measures 3.05 m (120 inches) for the MFWD model and 3.02 m (119 inches) for the ILS model. The shipping weight of the MFWD model comes to 12,346 kg (27,218 lbs) while the ILS model is a good bit heavier at 13,772 kg (30,252 lbs). Obviously the total weight of the tractor will vary depending on whether you attach ballast to it or not. Smaller models than the JD 8360R include the John Deere 8285R, John Deere 8310R and the John Deere 8335R tractors.
