The John Deere 4955 is regarded as the bigger version of John Deere 4755.

The production of this tractor started in the year 1988. All the production was carried out at Waterloo in the United States of America.

The engine was designed in house by the team at John Deere instead of using a Kohler or other brand of engine. The tractor has a powerful 200 HP, 6 cylinder engine. With such great power, it was obvious that John Deere would make sure the fuel capacity is on the higher side as well. As expected, the fuel capacityis a whopping 386 liters. This feature was more than enough to tempt farmers who have huge farming lands. This was also the reason why many farming related companies opted for John Deere 4955. It had a coolant capacity of almost 32 liters and an oil capacity of 20.8 liters.

The JD 4955 has got 15 forward and 4 reverse gears. It has got as full power shift transmission.

The John Deere 4955 is quite heavy. It weighs a massive 18,370 lbs. The wheelbase too is extremely impressive at 117 inches

The JD 4955 is equipped with a John Deere 840 loader. The dumping clearance of the loader is 149 inches. The bucket width is close to 100 inches (96.1 inches to be precise).

The model has got a hydrostatic power assist steering wheel and hydraulic wet disc brake. It is also equipped with 2 batteries. The tractor is also known for its extra ordinary ground clearance.
