John Deere 4720

The John Deere 4720 is a new, powerful compact tractor from John Deere that has been in production since ’05. It’s John Deere designed and built engine is a turbo charged PowerTech diesel with a power output of 66 hp. It’s direct injection system is also very handy when it comes to starting the JD 4720 in cold weather. The tractor comes with 4×4 MFWD Four Wheel Drive as standard allowing it to tackle even very wet, muddy or uneven ground. It comes with a rear PTO as standard, but also has the option of a mid PTO as well so that you can attach a mower deck. Thanks to John Deere’s ground breaking advances in technology, they have been able to give the JD 4720 a loader joystick that allows the operator easy control of the front end loader attachment.

The John Deere 4720 is a tractor suitable for almost any conditions thanks to the option of a ComfortGard Cab, that will keep the operator warm in the winter thanks to it’s 15,000 BU heater and cool in the summer heat through it’s extra large blowers and condensers. Or you can just opt for a rollbar instead. The tractor itself weighs in at 1750 kgs (3860 lbs) when fully operational and fueled up, while it’s maximum drawbar capacity is just 500 kg (1103 lbs). It’s wheelbase is 1.81m (71.5 inches), but it’s maximum width will obviously increase a lot if you are also using a mid mounted mower deck. The 4720 is 3.25 m (128 inches) in length and has a minimum turning radius of 2.8 m (9.2 feet).

The most impressive thing about this tractor is that it has the option of a mid PTO as well as having the rear PTO as standard which allows for many attachments on this wonderful model. From Landscaping tools like rotary booms, sprayers, box blades, aerators, landscape rakes, soil pulverizers and wood chippers, to more commercial tools like loaders and backhoes. That’s not forgetting that it can also take a mid mounted mowing deck up to 72″ wide. All in all, a fantastic vehicle.

  1. Mike says:

Hard to beat this tractor for utility use…Only drawback is the overall pulling ability of the hydrostatic transmission vs a geared transmission, but that is only needed when pulling implements.
