The John Deere 4710 compact tractor was only in production for 2 years. It was built by the JD team at their plant in Augusta, Georgia from 2003 until 2004 as a replacement for the John Deere 4700. When production on the JD 4710 ceased, they started producing the more modern John Deere 4520 instead. The Yanmar 4TNE88 diesel was the engine that this compact utility tractor came with as standard. This is a 4 cylinder, 2.2 liter, liquid cooled engine. It needs 6.4 liters of coolant to completely fill the cooling system, while the engine needs 4.8 liters of oil to ensure that it remains properly lubricated throughout operation.

This 46 horsepower engine transmits power to it’s 4×4 MFWD chassis via a choice of 2 different transmission boxes. The first choice is a power shuffle type transmission that provides the John Deere 4710 with 12 gears going forward and 12 in reverse also. This transmission gives the JD 4710 a top speed of 17.2 mph and needs 36.7 liters (9.7 US gallons) of hydraulic fluid to fully fill it. The other transmission choice is going with the hydrostatic, eHydro transmission box which gives the 4710 an infinite number of speeds going forward and in reverse too. The top speed the JD 4710 can manage with the eHydro transmission is 16.8 mph. It needs 34.8 liters (9.2 US gallons) of hydraulic fluid to fully fill the eHydro transmission box.

The John Deere 4710 comes with a rear PTO as standard and can accommodate a vast range of attachments and implements from harrows, to box blades to toppers. As well as the rear PTO you also has the option a mid PTO which will allow you to attach a mid mounted mower deck for quality grass cutting. This compact tractor uses John Deere’s special eTouch pedals which are much more responsive and require far less effort to use than regular pedals. It has a category 1, 3 point hitch with a lifting capacity of 1134 kg (2500 lbs). The tractor is not massive, but weighs in at 1564 kg (3450 lbs) and measures 3.43 m (135 inches) in length while being 1.57 m (62 inches) wide, but will be wider if you have a mid mounted mowing deck.
