The John Deere 1850 tractor is one of the larger machines in the JD 1050 series of compact utility tractors. It tips the scales at 2549 kg or 5620 lbs (that’s it’s shipping weight though, it’s operating weight will vary depending on how much fuel, oil or ballast is added. There are 2 distinct versions of the JD 1850 available. One has a 2 wheel drive (2WD chassis) while the other has a 4 wheel drive chassis (4WD). Obviously each of the chassis choices give the tractor a different weight. The engine that powers the tractor is built in house by JD. It’s a 3 cylinder diesel with a total volume of 2.9 liters. It’s power output comes to 55.2 hp.

The rear wheels on the John Deere 1850 tractor vary in size. While on both the 2WD and 4WD chassis, the rear wheels measure 13.6-36 (13.6 inch width, 36 inch rim diameter), the front wheels vary. On the 2WD tractor, the front wheels are smaller, each measuring 7.5-16 (7.5 inch width, 16 inch rim diameter). While on the 4WD tractor the front wheels each measure 11.2-24 (11.2 inch width, 24 inch rim diameter). The JD 1850 originally came with a choice of either a roll bar (ROPS) or a cab to protect you from the elements.

The John Deere 1850 tractor was quite popular among farmers for smaller chores. As a result it had a fairly long production run of 9 years from 1986 till 1994.
