John Deere 1830
In many ways the John Deere 1830 tractor is very similar to the John Deere 2030 tractor. The main difference is that the tractors were built in different places. The JD 1830 was built in the Mannheim facility which is located in Germany while the JD 2030 was built in Dubuque, Iowa. The John Deere 1830 was built during the seventies from 1973 until 1979 for a total of 7 years. The engine that powers it is a designed and built by John Deere themselves. It is a 4 cylinder diesel that has a total displacement of 3.6 liters. The engine uses a liquid cooling system to prevent it from overheating. The total power output from the engine comes to 60 hp.
The JD 1830 uses a choice of two gearboxes for bringing power from the engine to the wheels. The smaller gearbox has 8 gears for traveling forwards and 4 for when it’s reversing. The larger gearbox has double this amount, 16 speeds for traveling forward and 8 for when it’s traveling in reverse. When weighed, the tractor tips the scales at 2177 kg (4800 lbs).
As the John Deere 1830 is from the seventies, it comes with an open operator station. However, many farmers have taken the precaution to weld or bolt on a roll bar to help protect them in case the tractor rolls when driving on or across an incline. Most will have a number attachments for the tractor including a front end loader.

Great tractor, always starts, operated hay wagon, baler etc. would recommend this tractor, great for smaller acreage would install ROP’s system.
We had this tractor on our farm since it was new. The hour meter quit working in the late 80’s it read 8800hrs. It started every single day to clean our barn and the only problem had was it got stuck in park gear once. The engine was overhauled in 2017 with an estimated 40,000 Hours…….probably one of the most reliable machines ever built. It always leaked hydraulic fluid though.
