John Deere 1030

The John Deere 1030 tractor was built in Germany during the seventies (from 1973 until 1979). The tractor gets it’s power from a 3 cylinder engine. This engine uses a liquid cooling system and has a total power output of 46 hp. The engine has a total volume of 2.7 liters. The engine is built into a 4X2 2WD chassis. It has a choice of 2 different gearboxes to transfer power from the engine to the rear wheels. The first gearbox choice gives the driver 16 speeds going forwards and 8 for reversing. The other choice gives the JD 1030 half this amount, 8 speeds traveling forward and 4 for reversing.

The engine also powers the hydraulic system on the John Deere 1030 tractor. This system has a flow rate of 46.9 liters per minute (12.4 US gallons per minute). This gives the rear hitch a maximum lifting capacity of 1825 kg (4024 lbs). The engine gets it’s fuel from a tank that can hold a maximum of 62.1 liters (16.4 US gallons) of diesel. The JD 1030 tractor weighs in at 2700 kg (5954 lbs). It’s height from the ground up to the top of the exhaust (that comes with the tractor as standard) is 2.43 m (96 inches). The tractor is 3.37 m (133 inches) long and has a wheelbase of 2.04 m (80.7 inches).

The rear wheels on the John Deere 1030 which power it each measure 12.4-36 (12.4 inch width, 36 inch rim diameter) and the front wheels which are responsible for steering it each measure 6.5-16 (6.5 inch width, 16 inch rim diameter). If you own a JD 1030 then make sure to leave a review below so that others will get an idea of it’s good and bad points. Try to include as much information as possible so that people (who may potentially be considering purchasing it) can get an idea of what it is capable of.

One Review of the “John Deere 1030”

  1. Versatile, fun and competent little tractor

    Year of Manufacture: 1979
Pros: This is a lovely little tractor which starts well first time even in cold weather. It turns on a sixpence which makes it ideal for a smallholding like ours. Parts are readlily available I have found so far. An excellent small utility tractor deservedly popular in Europe but not so well known in the UK
Cons: Only drawbacks I have found are that is a devil to get at the bonnet retaining bolt at the back, the fibreglass nose cone is prone to dmage and the gears can take some encourageemnt to engage from cold
Attachments: None, but looking for a John Deere loader (175) to fit
Modifications: Our tractor was sold in Norwich and worked on a golf course so had grills fitted which we have since removed
