Husqvarna YTH22V46

The Husqvarna YTH22V46 garden tractor lawn mower is quite similar to the Husqvarna YTH22V46XLS model except for some minor differences. It also shares a good bit in common with the Husqvarna YTH2246. All three machines have the exact same power output and same sized mower decks also. The engine that powers the YTH 22V46 is an Intek model from Briggs and Stratton. This is a twin cylinder gasoline engine that has a total displacement of 0.646 liters. The engine uses a full pressure lubrication system and has overhead valves. It uses an auto type air filter to purify the air intake coming into the engine so that no dust or other particulate matter gets into the combustion chamber.

The engine on the Husqvarna YTH22V46 transfers power to the wheels through a hydrostatic transmission. This gives the YTH 22V46 infinite speeds both going forwards and in reverse also. The speed is controlled via a foot pedal. The tractor lawnmower can be slowed down using a disk braking system which is again foot controlled. The sector and pinion steering system on the lawnmower enables it to have a very reasonable 16 inch minimum turning radius.

The mower deck has a cutting width of 46 inches on the Husqvarna YTH22V46. This mowing deck houses 2 blades. The height of the deck can be raised or lowered from 1.5 inches up to 4 inches above the ground. In total there are 6 different set cutting heights. The deck that houses the 2 mower blades is made from 12 gauge steel for durability. The protective discharge flap on the side of the deck is set up so that you can simply discharge the cut grass clippings out the side of the deck during operation, but you also have the option of mulching them or even collecting them in a rear bagger attachment.

One Review of the “Husqvarna YTH22V46”

  1. Greg says:

Have kept up with oil changes, spark plug changes, etc and mower has been reliable after three seasons. I keep the battery inside during winter. Ran over/into stumps and gravel/stone and it keeps going without any real damage. Despite several blade changes, it doesn’t do a great job cutting – leaves a strip of grass uncut for whatever reason each pass. Determining how much gas is in tank is a pain – no gauge and opaque tank under hood makes it hard to see fuel level. Mulch kit seems ok, but I don’t have any other mower to compare it too. The deck only has wheels in front, and it seems to scalp the grass unless the ground is perfectly level, especially noticeable in reverse.
I would not buy this particular model again. Next mower is going to have a fuel level gauge and a floating mower deck that can adjust to the terrain.
