Husqvarna GTH2448

The Husqvarna GTH2448 garden tractor lawn mower is fairly powerful machine similar to the likes of the Husqvarna YTH24V48LS or the Husqvarna LGT24K54 tractor lawn mowers. When originally buying it, it came with a choice of engines, either a Kohler Courage engine or a Briggs and Stratton Intek twin cylinder. Both of these engines are gasoline powered. The also both use a full pressure lubrication system to prevent too much wear while keeping the engine working properly. The engine is fed with gasoline from a 15.1 liter (4 US gallon) fuel tank. The engine on the GTH 2448 is keystarted using a 12 volt battery that supplies the engine with 280 cold cranking amps. Once the engine is running, it recharges the battery using a 16 amp alternator.

Power from the engine on the Husqvarna GTH2448 is transferred to the wheels through a hydrostatic transmission. This makes the GTH 2448 an automatic with no gear changing required. Instead the operator just needs to use the foot pedal to speed up or slow down. The hydrostatic transmission gives the lawnmower a top speed of 8.9 kph (5.5 mph). When it’s reversing, it has a top speed of 3.9 kph (2.4 mph).

The mower deck on the Husqvarna GTH2448 lawn tractor has a cutting width of 48 inches. Thanks to the fact that the engine provides 24 hp, it means that because the deck is relatively small, it can handle very long grass fairly easily. The deck on the GTH 2448 can be raised as high as 3.5 inches above your lawn and down as low as 0.5 inches above it over 6 different cutting heights. There are also a few different implements that can be used with this lawnmower. During the winter the front attached snow blower is probably the most useful, bit there are others like a rear bagger for collect the cut grass and a moss rake also.

One Review of the “Husqvarna GTH2448”

  1. Ron Flournoy says:

I have 1.2 acres of well landscaped yard. Lots of mulch beds, big trees and small rolling hills. I use my GTH2448T nearly every weekend year round to keep things looking good. I simply could not live without it. Tackling a well landscaped yard this size is a major undertaking. If I’m not cutting grass I’m aerating, seeding, fertilizing or collecting and mulching up leaves. I purchased my GTH2448T in 2006. It now has 750 hours on it and runs perfect. Ii is well maintained and garaged kept. Oil every 40 hours, greased every 10 hours and cleaned after each use with a leaf blower. It even has the original drive belts on it. The only failure it has ever had is the fuel pump and voltage regulator. The 24 h.p. Intec runs like new and does not burn any oil. I have even used it to haul wood out of the woods on a 5 by 10 trailer for a neighbor one time. It pulled the trailer at 600 lbs. plus 1500 lbs. of wood and never even slipped a wheel. This was up hill too. I have cut grass on my brothers little farm in the country when it was three to four feet high and it never bogged down. I am very pleased with my purchase and believe my GTH2448T will last for a good twenty years or so. A $3000 lawnmower is a major investment. Maintenance and care is the key.
