The Husqvarna GTH2250 garden tractor lawn mower is a little older than some of the other tractor mowers listed and reviewed on the site. The engine that powers it is a Briggs and Stratton that pumps out an impressive 22 hp. This engine is key started using a 12 volt battery that supplies 240 cold cranking amps to the engine. The battery is recharged using a 16 amp alternator once the engine is ticking over. The Briggs and Stratton on the GTH 2250 engine draws gasoline from a fuel tank that can hold up to 13.2 liters (3.5 US gallons). The engine stays lubricated using a fully pressurized lubrication system that has a maximum capacity to hold up to 1.9 liters of oil when an oil filter is used.

The Briggs and Stratton engine transfers power to the rear wheels of the Husqvarna GTH2250 through a hydrostatic transmission. This makes the lawn tractor an automatic with no gear changing required during operation. You simply use the foot pedal accelerator to speed up or reverse. The top speed of the GTH 2250 going forwards is 9.3 kph (5.8 mph) but it can only reach 3.4 kph (2.1 mph) in reverse. Similar lawn tractor models from Husqvarna to this one are the Husqvarna YTH2246 and the Husqvarna GT2254 lawn tractors.

The mower deck attached the the bottom of the Husqvarna GTH2250 has a cutting width of 50 inches and houses 3 blades. The blades are belt driven. The deck is raised and lowered using a spring assisted hand lever from a low of 0.5 inches above the ground up to a high of 3.5 inches above the ground. There are small gauge wheels attached to the edge of the deck on the GTH 2250 so that it keeps following the contours of the lawn/ground without the risk of the blades scarring the lawn.
