Cub Cadet LTX1046

There are actually 3 different versions of the Cub Cadet LTX1046 lawn mower. Each differs only by engine size. Each mower has the same sized 46 inch mower deck but a different engine. The first engine is the one powering the regular LTX 1046 lawnmower. This is a very powerful 23 hp Courage type engine that has been designed and built by Kohler. The Cub Cadet LTX1046M has a slightly less powerful engine. This is also a Kohler Courage engine, but it only produces 22 hp. The least powerful of the 3 is the Cub Cadet LTX1046KW. The engine powering this mower produces only 20 hp and is also designed and built by Kohler. All mowers are automatics thanks to a hydrostatic transmission that gives them infinite gears when traveling forwards as well as when it’s reversing. The top speed of this mower is 8.4 kph (5.3 mph).

As stated previously, the Cub Cadet LTX1046 has a mower deck with a cutting width of 46 inches. This mower deck is cleverly constructed, preventing any scalping of the lawn you are cutting by adding 4 wheels, one on each of the outer edges of the mower deck. The mower deck is unlike a lot of other lawnmowers from other brands as it does not have one large single blade cutting the grass. Instead it has 2 smaller blades. The mower deck is adjustable in 0.25 inch increments from 1.5 – 4 inches above the ground.

If the Cub Cadet LTX1046 is a bit too big of a lawnmower for you, then you should consider the Cub Cadet LTX1042 or theĀ Cub Cadet LTX1045 lawnmowers which have smaller mower decks and less powerful engines. Thankfully you can very quickly and easily attach or detach the mower deck on the LTX 1046 lawnmower. You can also use a snowblower attachment as well as a whole host of others to help you with your chores around your yard.

If you own (or have previously owned) any of the 3 types of the Cub Cadet LTX1046 lawnmowers, then please feel free to leave a review below to let people know what they should expect from owning one. Don’t forget to mention what you like and do not like about it as well as any modifications you made or attachments you use with it.

    Awesome

    Year of Manufacture: 2012
Pros: To correct review above the LTX 1046 KW has a kawasaki 20.5hp v-twin engine. Hence the KW at end. I can’t imagine Kohler being better than Kawasaki.
    Cons: none
    Attachments: none
    Modifications: none

  2. Eric says:

  3. Brian says:

Like the power…but the should have bought the welded deck. Ive had 4 flats. Three in the back and one in the font. My Deer never had a flat in 8 yrs. If i were to buy again…if they didn’t have an upgrade on tires….NO WAY. Worst rubber money can buy

    Year of Manufacture: 2016
    Pros: Strong engine. Pretty comfortable.
Cons: Tires Suck. Cheap Chinese les Schwab rubber
